Gender Diversity Ambassador Award criteria

This lifetime achievement award is presented to someone working in the UK who has taken sustained, positive steps towards highlighting and addressing the gender imbalance within the engineering profession.

Within the workplace and beyond, they should be an inspiration to their colleagues and peers, a committed advocate for women in the sector, and have made a significant contribution to solving the engineering gender diversity gap. There is no age limit to this award, and it is intended to reward a lifetime’s work of advocacy and allyship.

Competency Essential Desirable

Acts as a role model in championing gender diversity.

Builds a culture of inclusion by demonstrating an understanding of potential barriers to progression and implements tactics/policies to address those issues.

Has implemented strategies to attract and retain women in engineering.

How to nominate someone else for an award:

To nominate someone else for one of the awards, choose “Nomination for Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award” from the main menu, and complete the short form. This triggers a notification to the nominee, to invite them to complete an application.

The nominee needs to complete the application, and have it endorsed, for the entry to be complete.

The endorser can be the same person as the nominator, unless the nominator is a relative of the nominee. IET staff members cannot nominate or endorse applications.
