The amount of time it will take to complete an application varies by applicant, but it is expected that it may take you around two hours. This does not need to be done in one sitting, you can save and come back to your application.
- All applicants must be currently working in the UK.
- You do not need to be a member of the IET to enter the IET YWE awards.
- The awards are for those aged 18 to 35 years old and the Gender Diversity Ambassador Award has no age limit.
Key dates to note:
If you are a successful finalist, there are some key dates you will need to be available:
| 4 or 5 August 2026 | Interview days (online) |
| 1 September 2026 | Filming and photography day (in-person in Stevenage) |
| 3 December 2026 | YWE Awards Ceremony |
(Please note that these dates may be subject to change)
How to nominate someone else for an award:
To nominate someone else for one of the awards, choose “Nomination for Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award” from the main menu, and complete the short form. This triggers a notification to the nominee, to invite them to complete an application.
The nominee needs to complete the application, and have it endorsed, for the entry to be complete.
The endorser can be the same person as the nominator, unless the nominator is a relative of the nominee. IET staff members cannot nominate or endorse applications.
