EqualEngineers

EqualEngineers is dedicated to creating inclusive engineering and technology organisations by developing, attracting, and retaining diverse talent. We connect inclusive employers with underrepresented candidates, helping to drive cultural change across the sector. Guided by our core values—equality, inclusivity, trust, and accountability—we champion the link between diversity and organisational performance, safety, health, and wellbeing.

Our mission is to build a more representative workforce, while our vision is to be the provider of choice for talent sourcing, events, and inclusion consultancy. Through impactful projects and services, we help engineering and technology organisations become places where everyone can thrive.

The Women’s Engineering Society

Once again the Women’s Engineering Society is delighted to be part of this year’s Young Woman Engineer of the Year Awards and to offer the WES Prize to a young woman who has engaged and inspired young people to be involved in STEM.

We are immensely encouraged by theoutstanding talent of the young women involved in engineering. We continue to showcase them throughout the year through events such as the WE50 awards, our annual celebration of the Top 50 Women in Engineering. We also run International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) held on the 23rd June each year, which profiles the best, brightest and bravest women in engineering. INWED is an important event in the engineering calendar as it not only helps support women currently in the industry but is a great inspiration for aspiring engineers looking to get into the field.

As a charitable trust driven by our stakeholders, we continue to support and inspire women whilst also encouraging the education of engineering and supporting companies when it comes to gender diversity and inclusion - something we’ve been doing for over 100 years since the first world war where we advised the government on female factory workers. The recent report from Engineering UK states that women now make up 16.5% of the engineering workforce, which is an increase of 6% from 2010. Whilst this is clearly moving in the right direction there is still a lot more that needs to be done. We need to not only inspire the next generation of engineers but also support and encourage those already in the industry to reach their full potential.

WES is committed to supporting and encouraging women in engineering at every stage of their careers, whilst making easier paths for future generations of engineers.
